Highground House

After suffering a major house fire in autumn 2023, the clients at Highground us to rebuild their three bedroom family home into something much more than it ever was before.

Our work has included a complete thermal upgrade to all walls and roof, ensuring the new house is warm and soundproof from the nearby train line. We have also added a number of extensions and modifications including a new second floor in the roof space, a living room extension, a new master bedroom including en-suite and dressing room, and a new kitchen and utility room extension. Almost nothing of the old house remains here, apart from the local Sussex character of hung tile and red brickwork.

The final challenge of this house was designing and completing the project within the 6 month timeframe that was set by the insurance company’s cover for the scaffolding ‘tin hat’ cover. This was critical to the budget and logistics and involved pushing hard for planning consent, but we did it!
